Tarset Holiday Cottages offer luxury rural retreats in the heart of scenic Northumberland. We created a web presence to rival those of the local competition, and developed a lively balance of facts, imagery and descriptive text to appeal to all kinds of visitor.
Websites for holiday cottages in the UK can be a mixed bag, ranging from the dated to the bland to the brown. Our task was to create a clean, modern, engaging website that visibly put THC in the same league as other luxury local cottages – but it had to have cross-generational appeal. The owners wanted to attract families with children as much as couples – hence the outdoorsy images of wellies and mountain-biking alongside shots of kitchens and beds for those in search of a more relaxing experience.
We built a site with:
- A simple typographic logo
- A colour scheme of various tints of green, with plenty of whitespace
- Scrolling galleries on the home page with a fade effect
- Multiple image galleries implemented using the NextGEN gallery plugin, and adapted to use jQuery and the Galleria image gallery
- An interface with an Eviivo booking system
- A news blog with a calendar for forthcoming events
